American Airlines is expanding its Miami service to daily flights
Bermuda will benefit from a daily American Airlines service out of Miami from November 19.
The airline currently operates flights three times per week in the winter and five times per week in summer.
Announcing the increased service yesterday, Premier and Minister of Transport Ewart Brown said: "It is widely known that as a result of the current economic conditions, airlines are struggling with declining passenger numbers.
"As a result, many airlines have responded with cost saving measures that have included route and frequency reduction. In these circumstances it is indeed a great day for a destination when an airline partner has such confidence in a destination that it moves to increase frequency."
He added: "It is particularly encouraging that the daily service will commence in November as we enter our golf and spa season, a period when we typically experience a decline in seat capacity."
The planes servicing the route can carry up to 296 passengers.
