US consulate updating its warning system

The American consulate has asked US residents on the Island to sign up for 'warden messages' after a test of an emergency system.
The warden messages are used to notify American citizens living in Bermuda where to go and what to do should a real disaster strike the Island.
Exercises of this type are held on a regular basis as part of a worldwide programme to make sure that all of the participants know how to respond.
Bermuda Police and Regiment officers joined with US experts in a recent exercise testing the consulate and the services' responses.
To sign up for warden messages, US residents are asked to register at https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/ui/.
