Bermuda's beach lifeguard coverage for the 2008 season is nearing its end, the Department of Parks announced yesterday. Visitors and residents may have to take extra care when swimming on the beaches as there will soon be no more lifeguards to look out for them for the rest of the year.
From Monday, the lifeguard coverage at Cooper's Island, St. George's will end. Coverage will end at Turtle Beach, St. George's, the following Saturday and on Tuesday, September 2, there will no longer be lifeguard coverage at Clearwater Beach, St. George's or John Smith's Bay, Smith's.
Lifeguard coverage will continue at Horseshoe Bay, Southampton, until October 31.
