Marshall just off his best
In windy conditions, runner Lamont Marshall competed in a 1500 metres in New York city over the weekend and ran a time of four minutes and two seconds for the metric mile distance.
His finishing time was eight seconds adrift of his best for the event and his coach and father Larry Marshall sr. said his son had not felt as good as he had recently in races, where he had set a number of lifetime bests.
Devonshire athlete Marshall is regarded by many as one of the favourites in this year's May 24 Half Marathon Derby. He was third in last year's event behind two-time champion Chris Estwanik and Olympic triathlete Tyler Butterfield, both of whom are due to compete again this year.
Marshall's weekend track race was at the Icahn Stadium and was part of the New York City Qualifying Challenge event.
