Tropical Storm Kyle passing

Tropical Storm Kyle will brush the Island early this afternoon but winds of no more than 35 knots are expected.

A spokesman for the Bermuda Weather Service said last night: "Tropical Storm Kyle is a threat to Bermuda but we're expecting much less winds than we saw with Bertha. We are expecting minimal tropical storm force winds, at about 35 knots, mainly to the western section of the marine area."

Kyle's closest point of approach is forecast as 242 nautical miles to the west of Bermuda at 2 p.m. today.

At the time of going to press last night, Kyle had wind speeds of 50 knots with gusts of 60 and was 326 nautical miles south-west of Bermuda, moving north-northwest at 11 knots.
