Evergreen Kent Richardson was left amazed after winning his age category at last weekend's Miami International Triathlon.
The veteran triathlete won the 50-54 age group with a time of two hours 10 minutes and 59 seconds, and came 46th out of around 1,500 athletes. He was the sixth fastest amateur performer from a field of almost 700.
"It's kind of crazy that I won the thing, I didn't expect that," he said. "I had a really strong swim and that set me up for the rest of the race."
He added: "My next big event is an International Iron Man race in St. Croix. All my focus is on the World Championships in Australia in September. That's what I'm geared towards."
