Join the KBB clean up in Sandys this morning

Keep Bermuda Beautiful will this morning be out in force to clean up bulky waste at Lodge Point Lane, Sandys.

Volunteers will be joined at the fly tipping hot spot by an excavator and operator donated by Bell's Skyline, together with a crane truck from Waste Management.

Organisers say the area has attracted a vast and growing pile of garbage from mattresses to mechanical and horticultural cuttings, and an entire bathroom suite including bath toilet and wash basin.

A KBB statement said: "The area is constantly the focus of fly tippers who have no concern for the members of the public who come here to camp, picnic and fish.

"KBB has been out to this location several times to clean up. However this time there is hope that the trucks can be frustrated. This will be a joint venture aimed at making a permanent difference."

Volunteers will be on the site from 9 a.m. until noon.
