What is your job? My job as a mechanical engineer in training is to complete a four-year chartership programme, fulfilling competencies in the fields of applied engineering from a business perspective, general applied engineering knowledge, leadership, interpersonal skills and professional conduct to become a Chartered Mechanical Engineer.

This includes being out in the plant taking samples from engines, sourcing equipment for plant expansion and troubleshooting during maintenance projects.

What is your favourite part of the job? Learning more applied aspects of this field of work and the interactions between colleagues.

What is your least favourite part of the job? When I am not involved with a project.

What is your most interesting experience at work? The most interesting experience is just listening to the other employees in my department. They have pretty funny stories to tell of their experiences in life just generally.

What would you be doing otherwise? I would like to try and help people in some way or another. The Engineers Without Borders programme would be a good way for me to still be using a thought process of applied engineering sciences whilst doing this.
