Michael Jackson celebration in Botanical Gardens this evening

Michael Jackson rehearses at the Staples Center in Los Angeles last week.

Michael Jackson fans will have chance to pay tribute to the dead "King of Pop" at a memorial event tonight.

According to a press statement by radio station Hott 107.5, which is hosting the event in collaboration with Government, fans will be able to sign huge photos of Jackson which will be sent to his family "to let them know how much Bermuda loves him, and them."

It continued: "The best DJs on the island will play all of Michael Jackson's greatest hits. We're giving away a plane ticket to Neverland for the best Moonwalker and there will also be prizes for the best Michael Jackson impression."

Fans have been lining up to leave tributes outside Jackson's Neverland Ranch in Santa Barbara County. There has been speculation that it may eventually be opened to the public as a shrine, in the manner of Elvis Presley's Graceland.

Tonight's Bermuda tribute event is free, and takes place from 5 p.m until 9 p.m on the Camden Lawn in the Botanical Gardens.
