Woman hurt on road crossing

A 65-year-old woman was taken to hospital after she was hit by a van while on a pedestrian crossing in Hamilton.

Police report the Hamilton Parish resident was crossing at the junction of Reid and Burnaby streets around 12.45 p.m. on Tuesday.

She was struck by the van as it tried to turn into Burnaby Street from Reid Street, and sustained abrasions.

The driver of the van, a 66-year-old man from St. George's, was uninjured. The woman was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, treated for her injuries and released.
