A young Canadian man was fighting for his life in hospital last night after a weekend bike crash.

The 25-year-old victim, who lives in Devonshire, lost control of his rental cycle on Crow Lane, Paget, around 2.45 a.m on Saturday. It mounted the sidewalk and hit a concrete pillar, leaving the rider with serious head and internal injuries.

He was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where he was said yesterday evening to be in a critical condition in the intensive care unit.

The man was heading south on Crow Lane at the time of the crash. Police are keen for anyone who witnessed the incident, or has information, to call PC Tavoris Douglas on 295-0011.
