Basketball team gunning for Games gold
Bermuda men's basketball team have been placed in a group with Cayman Islands and Jersey for next month's Island Games in Aland in the Baltic Sea.
They will hope to go one better than at the previous Island Games in Rhodes two years ago when they scooped the silver medal.
Bermuda men's volleyball team have been grouped with Saarema, Greenland, Jersey and Gibraltar, while the women's team, who recently romped through the first round of the World Cup qualifiers in St. Martin, will face Saarema, Rhodes, Aland, Guernsey and Hitra.
The Games run from June 27 until July 4.
Bermuda have been awarded the 2013 Island Games – the first edition of the biennial event to ever be held outside of Europe.
It is believed the event will bring in an estimated $10 million in revenue to the Island with a cost of $2.1 million.
