Emergency shelters are now open
With more than a day to go before Hurricane Igor is expected to strike the Island, emergency shelters are ready to take the vulnerable.
Cots and supplies for 75 people were made available yesterday afternoon at the CedarBridge Gymnasium, the Government's main designated emergency shelter.
For emergency shelter, two have been designated by the EMO: CedarBridge Academy (1 CedarBridge Lane, Prospect, Devonshire) and Berkeley Institute Gymnasium (Berkeley Hill Road in Pembroke). For information about other emergency shelters, stay tuned too 100.1 FM.
Arthur Douglas, Manager of Assistance and Treatment with the Department of Court Services, said that he along with members of the Salvation Army and the Ministry of Culture and Social rehabilitation, had started work on the shelter Friday morning.
