Simons to keep College job

Mr. Simons -- the associate manager of recreational and sports programmes and facilities --

emerged.

Mr. Simons -- the associate manager of recreational and sports programmes and facilities -- made headlines earlier this year when news that he was to be made redundant hit the campus prompting over 100 students to stage a protest and sit-in.

He was being made redundant due to a lack of funds and was due to finish his 11-year tenure at the college on April 30.

However, negotiations between the students and College management followed and resulted in Mr. Simons receiving a job extension to the end of the semester with promises from management that his situation would be looked at in the ongoing restructuring process.

And earlier this week, a College spokeswoman confirmed that Mr. Simons would remain on the College's staff.

But she added that his new position was not known yet because of the restructuring taking place at the Paget campus.
