ICC honours five BCB bosses past and present

Five Bermudians who have made "exceptional" contributions to local cricket have been honoured by the game's governing body, the International Cricket Council.

The awardees are current president Reginald Pearman, and former presidents, the late Alma (Champ) Hunt, Edward Bailey and Elvin James, as well as the late Wilton Smith.

In a statement released last night, the Bermuda Cricket Board said: "The BCB is extremely pleased to announce that the ICC have honoured five Bermudians in recognition of their contribution to cricket in Bermuda and who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the game.

"The ICC Centenary recognises a group of people who are instrumental to the running of the game ¿ volunteers.

"These people give their time up for the benefit of others and are crucial in preserving cricket's special values as well as sustaining and developing the game at the grassroots and nurturing the stars of the future."

Medals, added the Bermuda Cricket Board, would be awarded at a date yet to be decided.
