A woman was injured when a motorcycle-riding thief snatched a handbag from her bike, knocking both her and the cycle to the ground.

According to Police, the victim, a 33-year-old Paget woman, was riding along Trimingham Road shortly before midnight on Tuesday when a man rode up to her and grabbed the bag.

The black handbag contained cash, a BlackBerry, a Nokia cellular phone and personal items.

Although she hurt her arms and legs in the fall, she opted not to go to hospital for treatment.

In a statement, the Police expressed their appreciation for a Good Samaritan passerby: "A member of the motoring public stopped to assist the victim following the incident and the Bermuda Police Service would like to commend that individual for their actions."
