German film action switches to Hamilton

Two horse and carriages trot up to the Heritage Court at Fairmont Hamilton Princess but they haven't run loose wreaking havoc all over the famed hotel.

Instead, they are extras in the German television drama 'Traumschiff ins Gluck'.

Shooting took place in Hamilton yesterday, beginning on Front Street at Number Six shed continuing down to the Princess hotel.

The 90-minute drama, which means 'Dreamboat' in English, follows two couples as they marry on a luxury cruise ship and spend their honeymoon in the world of luxurious travel.

The couple journey to exotic destinations, exciting cities and dramatic landscapes across the globe.

Yesterday the Heritage Court was the scene where the film crew of about 20-strong did everything to make sure the shots were perfect.

Two buggies with Bermudian drivers posing as extras in the scene rode up on the patio one in front of the other and stopped close to the hotel.

The carriages, from Shiloh Horse and Carriage Company, were adorned with white mesh and flowers to depict a wedding.

Along for the ride were the two couples with their wedding planners.

For the shot, the visitors jumped out of the carriage, were welcomed to the hotel and walked through a moongate.

Even though it took only a couple of minutes to shoot, the film crew were outside for more than an hour to make sure everything ran smoothly from flower placement to where the carriages would stop.

Shooting will continue all over the Island for the next three weeks with dozens of Bermudians being cast as extras.

The drama is being produced by German company Polython.
