Earth, Wind and Fire returning to Island

R&B legends Earth, Wind and Fire are returning to Bermuda next month for the International Love Festival.

The Illinois band – whose hits include 'Boogie Wonderland' and 'Got To Get You Into My Life' – are headlining the Valentine's event hosted by Premier Ewart Brown and his wife Wanda.

Tickets costing up to $1,200 include a three-night stay at the Fairmont Southampton, the venue for the festival, from Friday to Sunday, February 13 to 15.

Earth, Wind and Fire received great reviews here following their performance at the Bermuda Music Festival in 2007.

The Love Festival, now in its fourth year, is designed to attract couples from all over the world through the Internet, with some receiving personal invitations through the mail from the Browns.

According to a flyer, the weekend includes a Premier's welcome party at Newstead Belmont Hills, a golf tournament, a tour of Tucker's Point Club and an exclusive dinner with a private performance from Earth, Wind and Fire.

Bronze, Silver and Gold packages are available, priced $749, $949 and $1,199. The Department of Tourism did not respond by press time when asked for the cost of the event or how much profit it has made in the past.

The flyer states: "This Valentine's Day weekend, reconnect, relax and rekindle the flames of romance in paradise at Bermuda's fabulous Fairmont Southampton.

"Picture yourself and your significant other lounging on soft pink sand beaches ... walking hand-in-hand through crystal clear turquoise waves ... and enjoying activities created just for couples."

Sponsors named on the flyer are the Department of Tourism, Tucker's Point Club and Newstead Belmont Hills.
