Police make suspected cannabis seizure

In the third drug seizure this month, a 43-year-old Southampton man was arrested on suspicion of growing cannabis.

A Police spokesperson said yesterday: "Around 6 a.m. on Thursday, Police executed a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at a Southampton residence."

The resident was arrested for cultivation of cannabis, possession of a controlled drug and possession of drug equipment.

Police, along with the Dog Warden, also seized a pitbull from the residence.

On September 9, 15 plants were seized from land in Cochrane Road in Somerset, while 45 plants were seized from land at Crown Hill Lane, Devonshire Monday afternoon.

In mid-August, 18 plants were removed from a Curving Avenue, Pembroke residence. Police have attributed all of the seizures to information from the public.

"This is yet another example of the community taking an active role in assisting the Police, and we would like to thank members of the public for giving us the critical information necessary to address the illegal activity," said the Police spokesperson.
