Crash biker had been out drinking

A man who crashed his bike while under the influence of alcohol has been fined and banned from the roads.

Robert Page, 33, of Harrington Sound Road, Hamilton Parish, pleaded guilty to driving without a licence and while impaired.

Senior Crown counsel Carrington Mahoney told Magistrates' Court that Police were called to a single vehicle road accident at Harrington Sound Road, near the junction with Trinity Church Road, at 2.11 am on April 13.

They found the defendant pushing his motorcycle off the road, with a cut on his head and abrasions on his face.

The motorcycle had damage to the front fender and handlebars. Page's speech was slurred as he told the officers "I was riding home and I don't know what happened".

Asked if he'd been drinking, he replied: "Yes, I know I messed up".

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined Page, a construction worker, $900.

He also meted out 17 demerit points and a 12 month driving ban.
