New league kicks off on new pitch
After months of planning and endless meetings, the Corona League will finally be able to concentrate on football this evening.
The inaugural games of the competition, set up in the days after the collapse of the Commercial League, take place on BAA's new artificial pitch with the host club opening proceedings against Team Fire (6 p.m.), and Robin Hood facing Lobster Pot (8 p.m.) in the second game.
In tomorrow's three games, Valley take on MR Onions (1 p.m.), Vasco face Prison Officers (3 p.m.), and St David's clash with Tuff Dogs (5 p.m.).
All the games will be played at BAA, which is where the league will be based with games taking place on Friday night and Saturday throughout the season.
And there will be a host of well-qualified referees to officiate the games, with the likes of Joe Pimentel, 'Curly' Wilson, and Oral Swan taking charge.
Even Somerset Eagles boss Kenny Thompson is getting involved in the new league, refereeing St David's clash with Tuff Dogs tomorrow afternoon.
