College using YouTube to promote enrolment

Bermuda College has launched two YouTube adverts, aimed at giving hope to those made redundant in the economic downturn.

Along the theme of 'Don't worry, be happy' and accompanied by the Bobby McFerrin song to match, the clips feature a man and a woman who have lost their jobs but who then find new careers through the college.

The adverts coincide with Bermuda College's Downtown Recruit Campaign, to be launched next Monday (March 30). A spokeswoman for the college said:

"We are using new media to reach out to the community during these economic hard times, with hope and a solution. It's also a good reminder to those who may not be affected, but who are considering career changes anyway."

More than 200 workers have lost their jobs since December 2008, with similar numbers of Bermudians and guest workers affected.
