Chewstick Foundation partners with Mid-Atlantic

The Chewstick Foundation has entered into a new partnership with Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute in order to better understand some of the challenges associated with mental health in Bermuda.

A weekend of activities will kick-off the partnership with a series of public and private events and the first will be a private presentation to give a brief insight into mental illness and show how social inclusion helps individuals with mental illness to become fully integrated into mainstream society.

The major weekend event will be "In a Different Voice: A Community Perspective on Mental Health", which will take place tomorrow at the Chewstick Neo Griot Lounge in the Spinning Wheel Entertainment Complex, on Court Street.

It's the same open mic vibe that Chewstick is famous for, with the added benefit of a special artistic presentation, which will highlight the fact that people are more than their mental illnesses and often have many talents and skills. Admission is $10 after 0 p.m. Doors open at 9 p.m. and the event will go on until.

The final event will be a private Chewstick open-mic held at The Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute for clients and staff which is aimed at allowing some of MWI's clients to see what goes on within the community and allow them to participate in a place where they can feel safe.

If you are interested in finding out more or would like to attend one of the private events please send an email to info@chewstick.com.
