Celebrity team ready to take on young All-Stars
A team of local celebrities will be showcasing their cricket skills when they face some of Bermuda's top young players in the second annual Hiscox 11 and Under Celebrity Festival.
Sir Richard Gozney, pro boxer Teresa Perozzi, Sports Minister Glenn Blakeney and Dwayne (Sluggo) Leverock are just some of the celebrities who will take on an under-11 All-Star team at the National Sports Centre, North Field on Saturday June 12.
The event was launched was last year to commemorate Bermuda's 400th Anniversary.
Reggie Pearman, Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) president, is urging the public to attend what promises to be a fun family day.
"The BCB is extremely pleased to be collaborating with Hiscox once again to host this fun family day of cricket and to raise money for the Sunshine League," he said.
"Hiscox has been a major supporter of youth cricket in Bermuda and this is a celebration for all of us to enjoy. Fans are encouraged to come out to enjoy the games, lunch and festivities."
The festival will begin with the Under-11 East v Under-11 West at 9.30 a.m., followed by the celebrities match against the Under-11 All-Stars at 1 p.m.
There will be free children's entertainment throughout the day including face painting, tattooing, bouncy castle and slide.
A raffle will also be held with the proceeds going to the Sunshine League children's home.
Lunch and a free T-shirt will be provided for the first 500 people to attend.
