CedarBridge's plan

CedarBridge Academy has stepped up its efforts to crackdown on gang activity in the school and has come up with 14 points of action to maintain a "safe and peaceful" school.

They are:

1. Continuing to educate ourselves about the types of anti-social activities which impact negatively on the school environment and the best ways to handle them

2. Continuing to provide support and intervention for students who have challenges meeting the high standards of the school

3. Communicating on an ongoing basis to students and their parents that CBA is a neutral zone for violence, drugs, alcohol, bullying, gang activity, weapons and any other anti-social behaviour with signs in the building which state that "CBA is a Neutral Zone"

4. Placing students on contracts that challenge them to meet high academic, attendance and conduct standards

5. Communicating what we consider to be gang activity and the actions that we will take against such activities if they occur in our school

6. Communicating on an ongoing basis the action we will take against violence

7. Having daily power breakfast sessions hosted by the Vernon Temple AME Church

8. Partnering with the Brotherhood of Bermuda to support their mentoring of S1 male students

9. Introducing a CBA Swagger club for males

10. Partnering with Pride and Caron Bermuda

11. Holding year level unity days and team building workshops for our students

12. Providing individual and group counselling for students who exhibit anti-social behaviours

13. Implementing a professional and peer mediation programme that involves bringing in parents and or students at the first sign of any conflict

14. Joining Peaceful Schools International or another international organisation that will provide us with resources and strategies that will help maintain a safe and peaceful school environment.
