Department of Tourism officials have gone to Canada to help promote the Island.

The officials are embarking on a three-city road show which will see them visit Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.

They will meet with more than 300 travel agents and meeting planners in the cities.

Earlier this summer the Department of Tourism covered two Toronto street cars in Bermuda-themed ads.

They have also hosted a luncheon for several members of some of Canada's most influential media outlets.

Two airlines currently fly from Canada to Bermuda, Air Canada and WestJet.

The direct flights from budget airline WestJet were launched in May the price of flights on Air Canada has dropped since then.

Tourism director William Griffith said today: "We continue to focus our attention on the Canadian region, because part of our long-term strategy is to significantly tap into this market.

"We want people in these cities to know about the vacation treasures that await them in Bermuda, and our message this week is simple."

The road show will coincide with the launch of a brand new Bermuda Destination winter promotion — buy three nights for the price of two.

More than a dozen of the Island's hotels are participating in the promotion, which will run till March 31.
