Inquiries into an alleged assassination threat to the Premier made by an anonymous person on the Internet are ongoing, say Police.

Premier Ewart Brown's press secretary Jamahl Simmons asked Police to investigate the alleged threat last month.

He said both the tone of popular online political forum Bermuda Is Another World, and the anonymous post suggest "the potential for political violence".

The comments were directed at plans for a farewell gala for Dr. Brown, who is to step down as Premier in October.

The July 13 post under the name 'Buddah Bunny' stated: "OK. point me to the grassy knoll then. actually that would be better now thinking about it. I'll actually have a better shot view, and no one will ever see me. and I can leave without a trace."

Yesterday a Police spokesman said: "Inquires into this incident are ongoing."
