Argus jumps 5%
Shares of insurer Argus Group Holdings Ltd. jumped five percent yesterday, helping the Island's stock market index to climb back above the 2,000 mark.
Argus climbed 30 cents to close on $6.30 on trading on just shy of 4,000 shares, for a badly needed boost. The stock is down 35 percent this year.
The most active trading centred on Butterfield Bank, which saw 36,765 shares change hands, but ended the day unchanged at $4.
BF&M Ltd. remained on $15 after 600 shares traded, while there was lighter trading in KeyTech Ltd. and Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd., which both finished unchanged.
The Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) index rose 11.36 points (0.6 percent) to close on 2,009.59.
Volume was 41,647 shares and turnover was $183,437.
The BSX Insurance Index, of the Island's leading international insurance companies fell 0.8 percent to 804.12.
