A burglar was arrested on Wednesday afternoon after being caught by a friend of the victim and a nearby construction worker.

According to a Police spokesperson, the resident of a Home Port Drive, Hamilton home noticed an unknown man outside the apartment.

She told a friend who was visiting at the time, and he went outside to confront the man, who attempted to run away.

"The male acquaintance gave chase and was joined by another member of the public who saw what was happening while working at a nearby construction site," said the Police spokesperson. "As a result, the culprit was apprehended and subsequently arrested by Police."

Cash and jewellery had been taken from the home, but most of the items were recovered.

The spokesperson also said: "The Bermuda Police Service would like to commend the actions of the two men who apprehended the culprit in the matter."
