Spate of road traffic accidents over the past week – Police

Three men were injured in separate road accidents, with two suspected to have been drink driving.Police report that one crash happened near Princess Estate Road, in Pembroke, involving a car and a motorcycle.It appears that both vehicles were travelling on North Shore Road when they collided at 9.45 p.m. on Wednesday.

The rider of the cycle, a 26-year-old Pembroke man was injured and later arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

Meanwhile the driver of the car, a 49-year-old Devonshire woman, was not hurt.

Both vehicles were smashed with the motorcycle receiving extensive damage and the car appearing moderately damaged.

Another accident happened around 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, in the vicinity of Flatts Bridge involving a car and a motorcycle.

A Police spokesman said both vehicles were travelling along North Shore Road when they collided.

The rider of the cycle, a 55-year-old Pembroke man, was injured; however it is not believed to be serious.

He was taken to hospital via ambulance for treatment and subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

The driver of the car, a 71-year-old Hamilton parish woman, was not hurt in the crash.

Her car received moderate damage while the motorcycle received extensive front end damage.

Another crash happened at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, involving a van and another vehicle believed to be a motorcycle.

It appears that both vehicles were travelling along St. Mary's Road in Warwick when they collided.

The rider of one vehicle, a 36-year-old Warwick man, was injured and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

While the driver of the van, a 37-year-old Sandys parish man, was not hurt, his vehicle was damaged.

On Saturday, a 26-year-old Smith's man, who is believed to have fled from the scene of a crash, was injured and was found at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

A Police spokesman said the accident happened around 4.a.m. on Marsh Folly Road in Pembroke.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
