A man was dragged from the sea and rushed to hospital after falling overboard on Saturday afternoon. Police say a member of the public jumped into the water to rescue the 46-year-old Devonshire man, who had fallen in near Number One Shed in the City of Hamilton and was floating on his back shortly before 2.30 p.m.

The rescuer hauled the victim to the ferry terminal dock, where Police helped pull him to safety.

Police are investigating but say it appears a pre-existing medical condition may have resulted in the man falling overboard, as he had no apparent injuries.
