UBP Senator praises Southside Harbour View Village
An affordable housing unit in Southside, St. Davids, which will start moving tenants in this year, was praised by Senator Suzann Roberts Holshouser.
The United Bermuda Party Senator, who is also a resident in the area, called the Southside Harbour View Village units were a "wonderful thing".
She said: "It has been a long time coming. Government did come to the rescue (and now) at least some people's dreams of owning their own home will come true."
The Senator admitted the project, first announced in 2005, "always seemed to have been behind the eight ball". But added: "I don't want to undermine the fact that Southside Harbour View looks like a beautiful location."
The property was officially vested to the Bermuda Housing Corporation yesterday in the Upper House — as senators unanimously passed the Bermuda Housing (Vesting of Land) Order 2010.
The property which was awarded to lottery winners back in 2005, will start housing families this October.
Sen. Roberts Holshouser said: "It is a good, wonderful thing and I look forward to welcoming some new neighbours in St. David's."
