Five women from Bacardi's Bermuda office will participate in a 39-mile charity walk to raise funds for breast cancer research.

Lynne Adams, Michelle Trott, Karon Richardson, Alana Rogers and Emma Burgess will join the Avon Foundation Walk for Breast Cancer in Charlotte, North Carolina on October 23 and 24 as a team named Bermy Bosom Buddies.

According to a press statement from Bacardi: "Each of these women have committed to time-intensive training over several months in preparation for this charity walk that covers the equivalent distance of a marathon and a half."

Each participant is required to raise a minimum of $1,800 in donations.

"We're in this together," said team captain Ms Richardson.

"We know that with the help of our supportive colleagues and friends, we can do it."

The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer is the Avon Foundation's largest annual fund-raising initiative, and one of the largest fund-raising programmes in the United States.
