African community gives to Women's Resource Centre
The African Community of Bermuda donated $1,000 to the Women's Resource Centre (WRC).
The funds are in aid of International Women's Day.
"The African Community of Bermuda has always felt it important to make a contribution to Bermuda society whether it is the arts or through charitable donations," said Ayo Johnson, chair of the African Community of Bermuda.
"We decided a year ago that the Women's Resource Centre was one of several non-profit organisations worthy of our support.
"It appears that its services are always in demand and the WRC faces some financial constraints.
"Given the current economic challenges and the celebration of women through the International Women's Day, we thought it no better time than now to lend a helping hand."
Added the charity's public relations officer Charles Vaderpuye: "We must recognise that women are the foundation of our societies and play a strong role as leaders of our culture and as economic contributors, yet they face discrimination everywhere."
