Africa focus for new channel
A television network focusing on modern Africa and its people has been launched in Bermuda by CableVision.
The Africa Channel features programmes on news, travel, lifestyle and music, as well as films, talks shows and soap operas.
The Africa Channel president Elrick Williams said: "CableVision viewers are in for a unique television experience. The Africa Channel is the first of its kind: a 24/7 cultural, entertainment and destination channel that provides a daily window into the African continent through a unique mix of quality, all-English television programming.
"We are confident our viewers in Bermuda will be very pleased with the diverse and first-rate programming the network has to offer."
CableVision general manager Terry Roberson said the channel — launched four years ago in the States — featured a unique blend of programming not available anywhere else.
"By placing the Africa Channel in our basic economy tier, we're making it available to all our customers, so that everyone can enjoy the outstanding quality and diversity this channel has to offer," he said.
Flagship programmes on the channel include the travel series Africa Within and Studio 53; reality series Project Fame Africa and All You Need is Love; dramas Generations, Jacob's Cross and Isidingo; the interview series Conversations with Felicia; the weekly news magazine Africa Journal produced by Reuters in Kenya; and the daily music series Africa Music.
@$:The new network can be found on channel six. The NBC affiliate WHDH has moved to channel 98.
