Woman loses part of her finger

Marine police rushed a woman to an ambulance after she lost part of her finger in a sailing accident.

The sailboat Crossfire was participating in the regular Wednesday night racing when the victim, aged in her 30s, had her finger crushed.

According to a spokesman for Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre, the vessel was in the Great Sound when it called for assistance at 6.25 p.m.

Marine Police's Rescue One raced her to Barrs Park. A Police car took her to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital where she was understood to be in surgery last night.
