1998, according to figures released yesterday by the Statistics Department.

The local company register grew by 102 companies over 1997. The exempt company register grew by 880 companies during the year. During the year the Registrar of Companies added 188 new local companies, a slow down from 1997 when 210 companies were incorporated.

In 1998 a total of 1,136 exempt companies were added to the register, compared to 1124 in 1997. The number of partnerships grew by 30 firms to a total of 343 on register in 1998.
