Chesterfield Robinson, of Mington Lane, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to the charges of breech of peace and unlawful assault.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant told the court that on March 24 Robinson, who had been drinking, became involved in a verbal battle with his mother when he returned home.

Robinson took off his boots and threw one at his mother, striking her.

Sgt. Grant said Robinson preceded to grip his mother by the neck and slam her against the wall. Robinson's brother came into the room and began arguing with him. Police were eventually called.

Robinson was taken into custody because of his agitated and drunken state and charged with breech of peace and unlawful assault.

"I lost a $300 machine and my job that day,'' said Robinson. "I wasn't feeling too happy and I had a few drinks.'' Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl-Ann Mapp ordered Robinson to attend Probation Services and to stay away from his mother.

Robinson was granted $500 bail and ordered to return to court on May 2.

Door smashed at People's Pharmacy Police attended a report of a break-in at People's Pharmacy yesterday morning.

They arrived at the Victoria Street business shortly after 4 a.m. to discover a glass door had been smashed.

Inquiries were continuing to establish whether anything was stolen.
