Underage driving costs man year off road and $550 fine
Pemroke youth $550 in fines and a year off the road.
Paul Smith, of Middle Town Lane, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to riding a motorcycle while underage on April 13, driving in a dangerous manner, and failing to stop for Police.
Sgt. Peter Giles, prosecuting, said Police on duty that day at the junction of Glebe and Bishop Spencer roads around 5 p.m. saw Smith riding a Suzuki motorcycle at a high speed.
He said the officers knew Smith was underage and pursued him.
Smith, as he ignored the Police siren and gestures to stop, drove at a high speed and caused other vehicles to swerve out of his way, Sgt. Giles said.
He was later arrested.
Magistrate the Wor. John Judge fined Smith $100 for riding a motorcycle underage and banned him from all motor vehicles for a year.
Smith was also fined $350 and taken off the road for a year for dangerous driving, and fined $100 for failing to stop for Police.
