Last year, writs were filed against the operators of the pub by two different creditors, seeking recovery of start-up capital and back rent.
The managers of the pub, Mr. Rowland and Mrs. Norma O'Malley, could not be reached for comment yesterday. Nor could Mr. Leon (Jimmy) Williams MP, whose holding company St. George's Enterprises owns the historic building.
Mrs. O'Malley is Mr. Williams' sister.
The writ for back rent sought nearly $55,000 from the pub's operators. But last night a source said it was the second creditor, who provided the start-up capital, that prompted the closure.
