Officer hurt during arrest
who then attacked an officer who had been called to investigate.
A resident called Police at about 8.30 p.m. on Monday claiming that an unknown man was acting strangely in the area of Tamarind Vale Road.
The suspect was spotted by an officer who responded to the call shortly afterwards, but when the Policeman approached the suspect, he began to act in a threatening manner before pushing the officer and fleeing on foot.
After a long chase, the suspect was able to escape by violently resisting arrest, which resulted in the officer receiving cuts to his left hand.
Last night, a Police spokesman said they were requesting any witnesses to the incident come forward, particularly the person who had initially called the force with the complaint.
Anyone with information should call Detective Inspector Beverly Hopkins on 234-1010.
