Man attacked with machete while sleeping

The 49-year-old Pembroke man was asleep in his home in Curving Avenue when he awoke at about 4 a.m. at the sound of someone forcing their way through the front door.

The 49-year-old Pembroke man was asleep in his home in Curving Avenue when he awoke at about 4 a.m. at the sound of someone forcing their way through the front door.

He told Police that a man then entered the bedroom and confronted him over a separate matter, before raising a machete and striking him twice on the forehead.

The attacker then punched him in the left eye before leaving the property.

A Police spokesman said: "The victim later made his way to Hamilton Police Station with the assistance of a family member, and Police requested an ambulance to convey the man to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment to lacerations to the forehead and cheek, as well as bruising and swelling to the left eye.
