Tyco gets top ranking from BusinessWeek

The diversified manufacturing and service company was ranked 27th overall on The BusinessWeek 50, an index of companies who have achieved outstanding growth in sales, profits and return to shareholders.

The March 27, 2000 issue of the magazine features the list of the highest-performing companies of the S&P 500.

Eight criteria for financial success to evaluate growth in sales, profits and return to shareholders were used to rank the firms. Tyco International is the world's largest manufacturer and servicer of electrical and electronic components and undersea telecommunications systems, the world's largest manufacturer, installer, and provider of fire protection systems and electronic security services, has strong leadership positions in disposable medical products, plastics and adhesives, and is the largest manufacturer of flow control valves.

It operates in more than 80 countries around the world and had fiscal 1999 revenues in excess of $22 billion.
