The Broking Expercience
Three Bermudian university students — Alison Bolton, Michael Coles and Samuel Outerbridge — have been selected to take part in a summer internship with insurance broker Marsh and reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter Bermuda Ltd.
The two operating companies of Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc. are offering "The Broking Experience" for a the second year.
The 12-day programme exposes the interns to a number of disciplines including property, casualty, financial and professional liability, and reinsurance.
In addition to gaining true tactical insight into the operations of a broking firm and the insurance and reinsurance industries, the interns will learn about the value of the broker's role in mediation and negotiation as well as the importance of building and maintaining relationships.
Chris Reeves, a managing director of Marsh Inc. and president and chief operating officer of Bowring Marsh (Bermuda) Ltd, added: "Brokers are the gateway to insurance markets.

While The Broking Experience is primarily meant to be a supplemental education tool for Bermudian students, last year's programme led to intern Devin Page joining the Marsh team as an insurance assistant.
