Sailor Sarah battles rough waters in Spain

tough during a regatta in Spain this week, despite placing in the top half of the fleet with six races still remaining.

Wright, who could still receive a wild card for this year's Sydney Olympics, lies 22nd in a fleet of 68 boats competing in the Princess Sofia regatta in Mallorca. Some 13 countries are represented.

"I'm hoping for a top 20 finish which would be great as the competition is very good,'' said Wright yesterday, "but the conditions have been very difficult.

"Today you could hardly see over the top of the waves. I was in in 10th place sailing downwind when the boat capsized. By the time I got back on course I'd lost about 10 places.'' Wright eventually wound up in 22nd place to add to previous finishes of 35-23-23-21-21. Three more races are scheduled today and another three tomorrow.
