Store finds cannabis hidden in pumpkins
The Royal Gazette understands that approximately 30 pounds of cannabis was discovered inside pumpkins at Harrington Hundreds Groceries and Liquor Store yesterday morning.
A consignment of 50 bags of pumpkins arrived by air from Canada on Monday for Winter Cookson Petty Ltd. who began distributing them to local supermarkets.
Harrington Hundreds received one of the first bags and while the store's staff were cutting the pumpkins open to sell they discovered marijuana wrapped in plastic which had been packed inside the centre.
Apparently the pumpkins, which were shipped to Canada from Jamaica, had been cut open originally to put the drugs inside. They were then resealed using pins.
A Police spokesman said a stop was put on the pumpkins following a delivery yesterday and "a substantial amount'' of cannabis was discovered which was being processed.
