Internal hearing for prison officers

Prisons Commissioner Edward Dyer revealed that an internal hearing will have to take place to determine the fate of the men.

The three were placed on suspension in March following allegations from a British female inmate, at the Co-ed Facility, that she had been raped by them.

A Police investigation into the alleged criminal activity concluded in June that there was insufficient evidence to support prosecution. On the heels of the decision, Lynn Hall, president of the Prison Officers Association, called for their reinstatement and pointed out the staff shortage problems.

But up until now Prison officials have been tightlipped on the holdup in getting the men back on the job.

Mr. Dyer said standard procedure for all officers is that an internal hearing or "trial'' takes place after all the evidence is gathered.

While unable to say exactly when the hearing will take place, he said he hoped it will be before the end of the month.
