The South American students were asked to answer the question "If you were the leader of a team of adventurers, where would you go and why?'' in 100 words or less.

The contest was run as part of the Discovery Channel's "Outward Bound'' show in Latin America.

Thompson Island Outward Bound School in Boston was contacted to arrange a course for the winners.

Feeling that Massachusetts was too cold at this time of year, Mark Norman of Bermuda Outward Bound was asked to help.

"Language was a problem as I speak no Spanish,'' said P.C. Norman.

"I was glad two members from Thompson Island came to assist and were able to communicate with the visitors.'' The five days were spent learning things like abseiling, rafting, camping and canoeing.

Ed Sherlock, of Vision Video, filmed the experience. A documentary is expected to air at an unspecified date on the Discovery Channel in Latin America.
