Serco looking for locals

currently underway at Serco, the international company contracted to manage infrastructure at the former US Naval Air Base and International Airport.

The company, which oversees maintenance of all Airport runways and lighting, as well as all buildings vacated by the US Navy in the East End, is searching for administrative and skilled trades staff.

Five positions, ranging from Superintendant of Works to Senior Electrical Technician, have been advertised in recent editions of The Royal Gazette .

Company spokesperson Malcolm Simpson said Serco is advertising the positions locally and has no intention of looking overseas for qualified staff.

"We're hoping to fill the positions with Bermudians. That's our commitment,'' said Mr. Simpson.

If a qualified Bermudian cannot be found, Serco will consider training those closest to the qualifications, he said.

Closing date for applications is May 19, with candidate interviews expected to take about two weeks.
