One of the organisers, Mrs. Janice Swainson said the seminar will address the Island's need for a major drug rehabilitation centre among other things.

Mr. Logan Lewis, founder and president of "Apple'' -- a confidential drug rehabilitation farm in the US -- will talk about how Bermuda can set up something similar.

The Rev. Jim Daniels, president of the Chicago-based `Operation Push' -- founded by former US presidential candidate the Rev. Jesse Jackson -- will speak on drug prevention, "particularly to youth who have started or are contemplating using drugs'', Mrs. Swainson said.

Local reformed addicts will also speak at the seminar which will take place at Bermuda College's Stonington campus from 1 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on July 3 to 6.

The seminar, organised by a group of religious and lay people calling themselves "Action'', will be sponsored by the National Drug Commission, the Bank of Bermuda, and Bacardi International.

There will be a registration fee of $25 for adults and $10 for students.

Proceeds will go to the Physical Abuse Centre.
